What is Vacational Salary?

The salary you receive when you take your vacation, but it is paid differently from normal salary.

📅 Vacation days (by law)

  • 5 to 10 years: 21 days
  • 10 to 20 years: 28 days
  • Over 20 years: 35 days

💰 How it is paid

It is not normal monthly salary. It is calculated as:

Monthly salary / 25 × vacation days

(Divided by 25, not by 30 → that's why you get a little more)

Example

Monthly salary: $1,000,000

Vacation: 14 days

$1,000,000 / 25 × 14 = $560,000

👉 If it were normal salary for 14 days it would be less, that's why it's "better".

When it is paid

Before going on vacation (mandatory)

Deductions

  • Has social security and health insurance contributions
  • It is not a bonus or bonus

⚠️ Important The bonus is NOT included to calculate vacation salary. Vacation salary does NOT generate bonus. Both apply only to dependent employment.

Vacation Salary Argentina 2026

Calculate your vacational salary in Argentina

How it is calculated

Vacational salary in Argentina is calculated: gross monthly salary / 25 × vacation days. Divided by 25 (not 30) per LCT. If there are variable remunerations from the last year, they are averaged. The result is gross; pension and health contributions apply on it. Vacation days depend on seniority: 14 days up to 5 years, 21 from 5 to 10, 28 from 10 to 20, 35 over 20 years.

Legal framework

Regulated by the Employment Contract Law (LCT), articles 155 to 156. Must be paid before vacation starts. The formula salary/25×days is legal. Bonus is not included in the calculation base.

Practical example

Monthly salary $1,000,000, 14 vacation days. Gross vacational salary = $1,000,000 / 25 × 14 = $560,000. Pension and health are deducted on that. Net ≈ $480,000. It is more than 14 days of normal salary (which would be /30).
